Help Hillary Reach Independence

I truly feel that Hillary is essentially trapped in the Obama Campaign. She can't break free because she has so much debt and Obama is trying to take credit for helping her retire her Debt. Don't let this happen, let's ban together and donate today and help her reach independence by July 4th. Donate and invite your friends to Donate. You can donate below.

screw Obama, he's taking credit for everything he has never done. I hope he rots in hell. Shame on you Barack Hussein Obama for taking credit for someone else's work, I hope your wife leaves you, and realizes what a shallow. arrogant son of a bitch you are.

Hillary being a Democrat has to remian faithful to her opponent if she wants to remian in politics. I won't back her because that would be like backing Obama, and that isn't going to happen. Too bad it all turned out like this. Must be like a bad nightmare for Hillary

I think this notion that Hillary is tied to Obama because of her debt is simply an assumption without any foundation. As a Clinton supporter (though I do wish she would stop campaigning with/for him, though I understand, this is politics), I want to help her retire her debt simply because I think it would be a show of strength for her supporters to help her do that. Though, now that Obama is calling on everyone to donate to her, I don't think her campaign will even know where the money is coming from (ie, die hard supporters or folks responding to Obama's request to donate). And, quite frankly, I don't think they'll much care. They owe a lot of money, have a tight timeline, and, agai, this is, after all, politics.

I'm a PUMA, but want to stay focused on reality-based info and I think this idea that Hillary is tethered to Obama because of her debt is foundless, wishful thinking. Hillary is a Democrat and a politician who is 1) doing what she feels she needs to do for the party and 2) doing what she feels she needs to do to be in the best position re: her job and her political future.

Just my opinion.

I agree with you Anonymous..And I also believe that money he is taking in some of it is hers...and he will fill his till...he can't by law take it from his anyway and give it to her...He has donated from Michelle and himself...I donated to her when she was running 3 times..and like everyone else in the country, I am strapped...I live on a meager income
as it is, and if she was still in the run, I would down the road donate...but I can't at this time...I feel very bad for her because I feel she is tied to Obama and doesn't want to be...but party is as party does and she will do what it takes for November...

I supported Hillary's campaign in countless ways and am now a PUMA. I see that many orgs that are part of Just Say No Deal are asking members to help Clinton pay off her debt and I can't help but wonder why we are doing that at this point? The way I see it is that we all supported Clinton. But now she's out there vigorously campaigning for Obama/the Democratic party. I know there's a theory that she's tied to him because of her debt, but as far as I can tell that's just an idea we find appealing but which has nothing to substantiate it. Do people truly believe that the day her debt is paid she'll abandon campaigning for Obama? I don't. I love Hillary, but I don't idealize her. She's made a choice regarding what she needs to do for her party and her own strategy, including protecting her job, setting the stage for future aspirations, etc. Meanwhile, we're ("we" meaning us individually and as grassroots orgs) are strapped for cash. It seems a bit misguided for us to be worrying a whole lot about Clinton's debt at this point. There's even a recent post on the PUMA web site stating that the finance committee from the Clinton campaign contacted PUMA asking for help to pay down her debt. That seems a bit presumptuous to me. Am I missing something here?

That depends on your goals.

Obviously, people should only give what they can afford, and should only give it to causes, etc. that they believe in.

But if it's important to you that Senator Clinton be a strong, viable presidential candidate in future elections, helping her pay off her campaign debts NOW is a wise investment. If it's important to you to support Hillary Clinton, helping her pay off her campaign debts (and no, the money will not go to the DNC or the Obama campaign) is a wise investment.

Of course if you have other priorities right now, that's another story.

Posted a response to Beth that didn't post...trying again...

Beth, I think your point is great and I just wish that it was the point made when trying to encourage folks to help pay down Hillary's debt rather than this pie-in-thte-sky fabricated notion that once we get her debt paid off, she will be free and no longer feel that she must campaign for Obama.

Hillary is a "big girl"...i.e., a strong independent woman. I don't think she's trapped by Obama. She is a loyal Democrat first and she feels overall Obama would be better than McCain because Obama at least shares similar democrat ideals. I'm not crazy about Obama...I think he is suspect...and I plan on writing in Hillary on the ballot. But, I think Hillary is supporting Obama because that is her way of taking the high road.

I am a strong supporter of Hillary. I will not support Mr. Obama because Hillary asks me to.
