Obama Against Late-Term Abortions, Focus on Abstinence Education

This is highly disturbing: From thestranger

Perhaps not the best way to court lefties already shocked by your embrace of telecom immunity, your vow to expand Bush’s faith-based programs, and your backtracking on Iraq withdrawal?

Obama:

I have repeatedly said that I think it’s entirely appropriate for states to restrict or even prohibit late-term abortions as long as there is a strict, well-defined exception for the health of the mother. Now, I don’t think that “mental distress” qualifies as the health of the mother. I think it has to be a serious physical issue that arises in pregnancy, where there are real, significant problems to the mother carrying that child to term. Otherwise, as long as there is such a medical exception in place, I think we can prohibit late-term abortions.

Never mind the fact that there isn’t exactly an epidemic of silly, fickle women suddenly declaring “whoops, tee-hee, mental distress” late in pregnancy so they can get dangerous, costly abortions (which are, by the way, exceedingly rare)—the more alarming point is that Obama appears to be saying that mental health issues, when they occur in pregnant women and new mothers, aren’t really “health” issues at all.

And:

I think we know that abortions rise when unwanted pregnancies rise. So, if we are continuing what has been a promising trend in the reduction of teen pregnancies, through education and abstinence education giving good information to teenagers. That is important—emphasizing the sacredness of sexual behavior to our children. I think that’s something that we can encourage. I think encouraging adoptions in a significant way. I think the proper role of government. So there are ways that we can make a difference, and those are going to be things I focus on when I am president.

Because those abstinence education programs have done such a great job at “giving good information to teenagers” so far. (TheStranger)

Does Silicon Valley have a local chapter of PUMA? I wish to offer my assistance in writing Hillary Clinton on the voting ballot in November.

The focus should be on sex education, not abstinence education. And late-term abortions shouldn't be illegal. A doctor should have the rights to do whatever he sees fit. I'm sure women aren't rushing to have late-term abortion, it may be a necessary evil in order to save the life of the mother...

Didn't Precious Obama (as Lou Dobbs called him!) say while at the Faith Debate a few months ago that young women are 'PUNISHED WITH CHILD"?!

This disgustingly sexist, smugly arrogant Chicago sewer politician who knocked off the ballot behind her back his AFricanAmerican mentor Sen. Alice Palmer in '96, stole the election from Alice and now STOLE the nomination from Hillary! Is this the Change we can believe in?

Obama couldn't care less about young women and their health problems and since he doesn't think mental health problems are really any "health" problems, what's his next step? To exclude mental health from his Selective (non-Universal) Health Care plan, probably 'cause he sure aint' gonna want his young women to escape 'unpunished with children'!

This fraudulent candidate was pushed to a fraudulent 'finish line' of superdels by the media misogynist frat-boys' antics. And since he is the direct Beneficiary of misogynist tactics, hell, why not go all the way and show how close he really is with his conservative racist roots. That's why he welcomed on stage that moron Chris Rock who compared Hilary to Fatal Attraction star! Meantime, he wrote a letter against Imus for Imus' own disgusting comments about the young Rutgers college girls!

So, Obama can bitch about the RACIST commentary any time, but to protest, as he should have, for the atrociously SEXIST treatment of Sen. Hillary Diane Clinton suffered by his fawning media....well...that would be too much to ask of this Xeroxed Copy of a presidential candidate!

Go PUMAs, let 'em Hear you Roarrrrr

As far as I am concern, the only issue we must focus on within this group is seeing to it that Hillary either gets on the first ballot, and if that doesn't work, we have to defeat Obama at the polls and work like heck to get reform in election policy in the future and perhaps joing with others wanting to do away with caucaus etc. some of the things HOUND mentioned but that is down the road. NOW are forcus should not be on Abortion issues but first things first. Hillary in '08

I wonder about a person who supports late term abortions and actually fought the Senate Bill 1082, Born Alive Infant Protection Act. It takes an awfully cold person to support killing a baby that survived an abortion. This had nothing to do with Roe vs. Wade ....... this is a completely different issue when it comes to life...... Obama made it his sole purpose to defeat this bill, that is until he was gone and it was finally passed. I wonder why no one ever talks about this..... this is horrible.

That's one way to not be punished with a baby....... stick it in a broom closet to die.
