Sexism Towards Sarah Palin

I just want to take a moment and say how disgusted I am at the sexism the Obama campaign supporters are showing towards Sarah Palin

Here is a Facebook status update from a friend of mine who happens to be an Obama supporter.
"(name protected) thinks Palin looks like a naughty secretary/librarian from a low-cost porno... NOT a Vice President. More ♥ for Obama."

How disgusting is that. My facebook status feed if filled with comments along those lines all from Obama supporters. Just makes me really think about how sincere all those calls for UNITY really are.

I guess the Obama haters prefer the Hype/Hack 08 ticket! They put a completely empty suit at the TOP of their ticket and a Washington insider who is mediocre at best on the bottom! Obama always trashes McCain about being in Washington 26 yrs during the 30 yrs of the energy crisis, but he overlooks his #2 has been there 36! McCain picked someone outside of Washington! Obama complains about lobbyists but his #2's own son lobbies for two drug companies, conflict of interest? McCain picked someone who has a proven record of fighting corruption! As for her experience, she's the only one on both tickets with ANY executive experience! She has run a SMALL state, has Obama ever run anything but his mouth? You can get more experience to be President being the Governor of ANY state for a month than you can being a SENATOR for years! Of our 43 Presidents only TWO have ever come straight from the Senate! Other Senators have run and lost by embarrassing margins! Mostly all Presidents were Governors first and some for not very long! So, what makes a half term Senator more qualified than a Governor? Please don't say he's a community organizer, I can assure you 0 have been community organizers! McCain is the only one with a Governor on his ticket! Obama supporters are making Obama look so bad by reminding people how unqualified he is after he just got most Americans comfortable with the idea you don't need experience. I thought it's about judgment, character, and being outside of Washington according to the great one! What happened to all the references of the other great President's who didn't have much experience? That's all I heard during the primaries like a broken record! This is also exposing the Democrats own hypocrisy of equality! Can you say sexist? I will say this one more time, Sarah Palin is more qualified than Barack Obama and she's running for the #2 spot where he is at the top of the ticket! I wish they would admit what this is really about!
McCain/Palin08! "Reforming Washington"!

Gee, you're getting flack from the Obama supporters.

Maybe, they're just pointing out the incredible stupidity of a Hillary supporter supporting McCain/Palin!

If you're going still going to crow and whine about Obama and support McCain, then maybe you should change the name of this blog to "McCain Grassroots Campaign" because as a Hillary supporter, I find using her name to perpetuate your anger campaign against the Democrats offensive.

BTW, when do you leave for St. Paul? LOL

In response to the previous comment saying that Hillary supporters are stupid if they vote for McCain/Palin-My gut feeling is that when Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea are in the voting booths that they, too, will be voting for McCain/Palin because in spite of their fierce loyalty to the Dem. Party they still believe in Country before Party and there is only one ticket that embraces that principle right now and that is the Republican ticket. I love Hillary as much as anyone but the Dem. Party is no longer the Dem. Party that Bill Clinton led years back and I will not betray our Country-nor give Obama the chance to do that- by voting for Obama.

Palin's 17-year old daughter is pregnant. Palin doesn't support making a CHOICE, even in the case of rape and incest.

And you're b****ing about the Dems being SEXIST towards her!? What about Palin's dogmatic approach to a WOMAN'S fundamental choice....that of CHOICE?

I guess racism doesn't matter in your book, either. Or any other kind of bigotry.
MANY if not all Americans face some sort of "ism" or "igotry" in their lives.

At least we Democrats are trying to fight ALL cases of "ism" or "igotry". Can you say the same about the GOP?

My Gawd, this has to be the most JAW-DROPPING thing I have read...and I've read plenty at this site!
You really think HILLARY would vote for Obama!? And Bill? And Chelsea!?

Is your Obama hatred clouding your judgement THAT MUCH!?
INCREDIBLE...absolutely mind-bogglingly INCREDIBLE
(and I do not mean that in a positive way!)

How can anyone support Obama after learning of the fraud throughout his entire campaign. It is unfortunate that the first black candidate who talks a good speech, but lacking in presidential experience, character and quality, is the nominee for the Democratic Party is just an empty suit.

How nice it would have been had it been someone like Juan Williams or other intelligent black leaders, it would have been a slam dunk. But when you find out all the background whether it is true or false (hard to tell now days) but the fact there is so many questions still out there regarding this mans eligibility and qualifications, I don't understand why the black community still supports this guy, as he will end up embarrassing them and set back race relations among our great white/black community 50 yrs or more. We were getting along fine. We have a black mayor, a black police chief, and black city manager, hispanic fire chief, and most the community is white. We have our bad black & white criminals, we have our good black and white leaders. Race is not the issue. It is the empty suit, the cheating and fraudulent way Obama was nominated that have Clinton supporters up in arms, not because she lost, but because she lost UNFAIRLY. GET IT!!!! people.
You can't reward DNC for its fraudulent convention and primary by falling in line or party unity.

You have to vote in Protest so that there candidate's fraud never happens again. Issues are important but not as important as country before party. Democracy first in America. Issues 2nd.

You don't understand why the black community supports Obama!?

My Gawd, you can't be THAT blinded by hatred, can you?
Incredible....I keep getting more and more amazed by some of these ILLOGICAL posts!

I'd rather have that "empty suit" and a VP with TONS of experience than "a beauty queen"!

Hmmmm, wonder which statement is more sexist? LOL

Talk about illogical posts:

Goodness, did I just read a post saying we don't understand why the black community is supporting Obama?

Of course we do, because he is black, but wouldn't it be nice if he had some executive experience first before being a Demo puppet?

Did you not know that many lines from his great speeches come from other people, even movies?????

Did you not know he and the Democratic Party committed voting fraud to get him selected?

So in other words, none of these things matter to you as long as his skin his black he should be President? MY goodness, I pray for this Obama trolls logic or lack there of.

Sad, but true. Especially if he would complain about Hillary supporters acting this way.

Not just Obama, but the Obamacrats will be surprised to learn that judgement and experience do matter, and that sexism is no less offensive than racism, especially when the Obamacrats play the race card, over and over, in an effort to drive clueless Dems into a stampede over the cliff toward another fraudulent election victory. The pattern of abuse against PUMAs will only guarantee more votes to deny Obama the power he will use to betray his own supporters. It is no coincidence that Obama had moved to the center, even before the nomination scam.

I am a Hillocrat...I applaud Governor Palins addition to the Republican ticket. On the day of her introduction to America I donated to the McCain campaign. He truly looked happy to have Governor Palin as part of his campaign. I also called the board of elections and confirmed that on Nov. 4th I can cross party lines and vote Republican. I am still a Democrat at heart but may have to reconsider after hearing the denigrating comments that came out from the Obama camp right after her intro to America...that she is a former mayor from a small town...like being from a small town is a bad thing and not even giving her the props she deserves for being a GOVERNOR OF OUR 49th STATE...Obama's camp meant every bit the mean sexist way their nasty statement came out, in fact Obama and Biden had to quickly release a new statement that was a kinder, friendlier welcome to the race....just being the Mother of five would wear anyone out but the Eveready bunny Palin also finds time to run a state as well....Bravo Governor Palin...Rock the Party!!!

the trash that is going out over tv...I for one said I would sit this
election out because of Hillary...
Well...I may just vote for Palin/McCain simply because of the sexism going on...If McCain doesn't make it...we will then have a woman in the W H..Hurray!!!! I am sure
she would take Hillary on as an adviser...I love Hillary with all of my being, and I will never forget how they have treated her...
I don't care what you all say about getting over it..My vote for her was not done lightly..and I campaigned for her over the e mails
and sent letters out...I like thousands of others feel cheated and betrayed because they took the
election away from her...not because it was done fairly...
That old adage (What goes around,
comes around) is true today....
You have Obama running his mouth, and so far that is all he knows how to run....The biggest state in the Union Alaska is close to Russia...
and if she can handle the crap up there she can handle Washington...

Sounds like some of the Dems have learnt well from the BO Chicago campaign - and are displaying as much sexism towards Palin as was laid on Hillary during the Primaries! Shame on you!

I've followed this election cycle v.closely since January - and have been downright disgusted with what I thought was a truly democratic country ......... but I can also pick a troll a mile off!

The women of America should push against that glass ceiling for all they are worth - and to denigrate a woman with Palin's experience is idiocy at its best!

Now is the time for real PUMAS to make it happen - and support Hillary in 4 years time!

McCain is a far better choice for World Leader than BO regardless of Party - and Hillary next!!!

Damn Pam your just every where whining Obamination's favorite song down with women no matter if their in your party or not.Pam tell me one decent thing Obamination has said about Hillary Clinton or women, until he needed her,and you. This is not a woman or a man thing, its a "WE THE PEOPLE GOT SCREWED"by the DNC and Obama Zombies, the biggest screwer was Donna Brazille. She was a staunch supporter of Hillary until it looked as though he had some white supporters. This is the same thing that happened with all of Obamination's black supporters they turned their backs on the Clinton's completely, but in order to do so they had to start accusing Hillary, and Bill Clinton of RACISM.So he has the black vote and Hillary has the female vote plus a great deal of us male's.So as I said earlier Pam if you like Obamination vote for him, because he is going to need all you Obama zombies he can muster.

Not an Obama/dem; an Eastern Estab. Republican - who *is* disgusted with Bush etc. lying, deceit, incompetent performance, nasty/negative campaign tactics, etc. And who agrees that Palin absolutely does look like just a secretary, and bordering on a naughty one in a cheap porn film. Typical choice for McCain; but a clear example of his poor judgement - no experience for Palin other than 2 years running a hick state, and now compounded by her lack of parenting skills as a mother to instill sufficient restraint or self-discipline in her daughter (supposedly Republican type values). Barefoot and pregnant. Another impressive accomplishment for the Republican party. I'm disgusted.

I keep seing reference to Alaska being close to Russia and mention of Palin's experience in dealing with this.
Can anyone provide detailed facts of Palins influence in this area since some of you think its important to bragg about.
As far as I know Washington is the center for international affairs not Gov Palin.
So far on this blogg there has been no real content just tit for tat garbage both parties are guilty of and people with their own agendas and quests.
We have just been through 8 years of this and need to move on with caution when choosing the next President.Choose wisely looking at the big picture and for good of the country. We have become part of the global community but some of the above comments are isolationist and risk plunging the U.S further into the abyss in the coming years.
There is more at stake than your personal agendas, choosing out of anger or spite is no way to achieve your singular goals if the country as a whole falters at home and internationally. To vote for these reasons will just prove how selfish and selfcentered plus uninformed you are.

Wow, I just can't believe they would mutter a word about Palin's experience. Compared to Obama she has tons of experience and she's just the VP. The GOP is going to squash the sexism in the race and it is sad that the DNC will have to learn it from them.

It is so ridiculous for the Obama/Democratic bloggers to make such an issue about Gov. Palin's daughters situation. Almost every American family these days can identify with this change in society today. Haven't they got any real issues to discuss. Evidently enough. Leave the girl alone and find something of real substance and then maybe you will be listened to.

As it is, you are only making fools of yourselves. Go Sarah Go!

First of all, I will vote for Hillary anytime, anywhere, etc. This year it is McCain/Palin. While nobody compares to Hillary, Palin stands up for herself and what she believes in. Hillary couldn't fight Obama because she was considered a racist anytime she said anything about his inexperience, etc. You Obama supporters helped create that egotistical monster by letting him think that he was all that, now you are dealing with people (RNC) who can attack him fairly. The Dems lose again, when this was clearly our year, because that self-declared Messiah decided it was urgent that he be elected and our genius leaders stood there with their mouths open, drooling in awe of his greatness, yet no one has been able to name one of his accomplishments. Many Democrats are going Independent or Republican, we are getting as far away from Obama as we can. Embarassed to be a Democrat.

Anonymous said...

Ya, It's not even the Obama Campaign making sexist comments it's the McCain supporters. How weird.

Anonymous said...

"Well...I may just vote for Palin/McCain simply because of the sexism going on..."

Despite the fact that most of the sexist storylines are being pushed by the GOP?

Because they want people to focus on how unfairly she's being treated - pretty much anything but her RECORD?

They don't want you to talk about her being vehemently pro-life.

They don't want you to talk about how despite the story lines they're pitching she lobbied HARD for the "bridge to nowhere" and only dropped support for it when she realized it was unpopular.

They don't want you to talk about how despite the nonsense she spouts about being "anti-pork" she hired a professional lobbyist when she was mayor and sponged Washington (and teh rest of us) for 27 MILLION in "special projects"

They don't want you to talk about the fact that she abused her office trying to get her ex-brother in law fired.

Shall I continue?

By all means, worry about sexism and how female politicians are viewed.

But looking at her RECORD isn't sexist.

OMG the democrats are in a panic. Did they not see how stupid they were by selecting the candidate who proved he can't win the GE.

And now Palin is the new rock star and Obama is pissed ~ "lipstick on a pig". ew!

Beth, Pam ~ you two are welcome to hang out here and make nasty comments. I assure you that anyone reading them will drive them that much closer to McCain ~ so thank you.

beth said...

Kindly point to what I said that was nasty.

Not even "nastiER" than what some of the anti-Obama posters have said, just nasty.

Avoid the question, just respond with a smear. Classic.

RE "lipstick on a pig": Please, he was clearly not referring to Palin. And while I'd love to say I'm surprised that the McCain campaign would stoop to playing victim, particularly when McCain himself has used the phrase several times* (including once when talking about HILLARY's health care plan), I'm not.

It is interesting to see that only people who support Mr. Obmama say that the "lipstick on the pig" has nothing to do with Sarha Palin(even though Mr. Obama did not mnetion hername). Each of us has a right to think or say what we think.

Did Mr.Obama also

Anonymous said...

It is interesting to see/hear that only people who support Mr. Obama say that the "lipstick on a pig" has nothing to do with Sara Palin(even though Mr. Obama did not mention her name). It is so obvious. Why did he go to that route? He claimed to be an agent of change --change what?

Was Mr.Obama the one who snubbed Hillary and later gave Hillary finger? Of course, when he was criticized, he/his advisors would say that he did not mean or do anything wrong--other people just tried to swift boat him. Enough is enough and he should accept his mistake. He probably will not do that because he thinks the world of himself.

beth said...

Here's the full text of Obama's statement, from the Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/09/AR2008090903531.html)

"Obama uttered the phrase in the midst of ridiculing the Republican nominee's commitment to change. "John McCain says he's about change, too," Obama said in an appearance here, leading into a string of ways he contends McCain represents more of the same -- on economic policy, taxes, education, foreign policy, campaign tactics.

"That's not change. That's just calling something that's the same thing something different. You can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig," Obama went on, and the crowd erupted in cheers. "You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper and call it change. It's still going to stink, after eight years. We've had enough of the same old thing."

Quite clear he's talking specifically about McCain.

And again, Senator McCain used the same terminology to refer to Hillary Clinton's health plan a few years back.

Obama used it to refer to McCain/McCain's campaign.

McCain used it to refer to Hillary/Hillary's policy initiative.

Explain to me why people who claim to be Hillary supporters are coming down on the McCain campaign's side on this.
