Update: DNC seats Florida & Michigan Delegates

Florida

From NBC's Mark Murray
A motion that would seat the entire Florida delegation and give them all a half vote just passed unanimously.

That measure would net Clinton 19 pledged delegates (Clinton picks up 52.5, Obama gets 33.5, and Edwards 6.5).

In addition, all Florida superdelegates will be seated, but with half a vote each.

Michigan

From NBC's Mark Murray and Ben Weltman
By a 19-8 vote, a compromise allocating Michigan's pledged delegates by a 69-59 forumla -- but counting each by just half a vote -- has just passed the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee.

The compromise will give Clinton 34.5 delegates and Obama 29.5 delegates. It would also seat all of Michigan's superdelegates but also give them just half a vote. Moreover, it would make the magic number to clinch the Democratic nomination 2,118.

But Clinton adviser and committee member Harold Ickes strongly disagreed with this compromise -- and said Clinton will reserve her right to take this dispute to the Democratic convention.

"This motion will hijack, hijack, remove four delegates won by Hillary Clinton and most importantly reflect the preferences of 600,000 Michigan voters. This body of 30 individuals has decided that they are going to substitute their judgment for 600,000 voters."

He went on to say, "Hijacking four delegates is not a good way to start down the path of party unity,"

This is sooo wrong.
Hillary Clinton received more than the votes given to her right now. Fight them all the way behind you 100% Hillary Clinton.

After the 2000 election, do we really need this? What an awful "solution." Anything other than the straight forward vote of the people is just an odd and biased scheme. I hope Hillary takes it to the convention - gave her money to run and I hope she keeps going. I do not support Obama. Period.

I believe the DNC just gave the MCCain the win....most people I know will not vote for Obama...no matter what he tries to hide and pretend he doesn't beleieve...he stayed in that racist church for twenty years..did you watch the report on how he got rid of his oppnents when he was running for the Ill. Senator...his opponent is now working for Hillary Clinton...You can believe there are more skeletons..with this one. If Hillary does not get justice and win the nomination, we will vote for McCain.

Our DNC is a shame-who are they to decide who our president will be. Our super delegates are a shame --I just wish the democratic party wasn't so complicated, why can't we just do away with all the hog wash and let the people decide who our delegate will be. I do agree that the dnc has divided our party and it will never be repaired,so lets get rid of Dean and company and start over with a new party. As a 30 year democrat-Go Mcain. You have my families vote. We refuse to vote for Obama. I would not trust this man with my dogs ,let alone my country. He doesn't even know how many states we have. He has campaigned in all 57 states.Quit trying to appease african americans let them go through the process of voting and helping select presidents of all colors. They hardly bother to vote until now. They are of a free nation they have all the privileges that we whites have,so quit holding them a china babies. Promise you they won't break. Due to our broken party, I feel ashamed to admit that I have been a democrat for 36 years. I haop Hillary will go independent and beat them all. If this can"t happen-Mccain will receive my families vote and we will change our registration as soon as possible.sincerely, hot for clinton
