Did you write a Super Delegate and get a response?

I am hearing from a lot of people that they are getting responses back from Super Delegates. If you have received good responses post them as a comment

If you have not yet emailed the Super Delegates, take a few minutes and write some emails.

Email the Super Delegates and make your case for why they should choose Hillary. Let them know that you will be voting for Hillary and only Hillary in the general election.

Thank you for your message. I am a super delegate who has pledged her vote to Hillary Clinton. I am also doing all that I am able to get her elected.

Thank you for your work on her behalf.

This message is in response to the hundreds of emails I am getting
daily about the upcoming DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee meeting of
which I am a member. If you are contacting me on another matter, you
will get an additional response from me.

I too believe every vote should be counted. President Truman once
said, "the challenge is not doing the right thing, rather knowing what
the right thing is to do." I believe that the members of the Rules
and Bylaws committee will go into the meeting not as pledged Obama or
Clinton delegates but as Democrats who want to resolve this issue in a
fair manner.

Thank you for your email. Hillary Clinton carried my county, my congressional district and my state. I intend to vote for her to be the nominee of the Democratic Party for the 2008 presidential election.

I am a strong Hillary Clinton supporter. I have been pledged to her for more than a year. I will not move on to another candidate unless or until she releases me.

Tat said I am so sad and disappointed that so many of the emails I am getting expressing the need to support her are racist, full of untruths, and viciously mean towards the other strong candidate our fellow Democratic Senator Obama.

Threats to bolt the party, not vote etc. are so very sad that rather than have another Democrat change the course of this country some of HRC’ supporters would rather support McCain who doesn’t respect a woman’s right to choose, keep us in a costly war, and continue the failed Republican policies of the last 8 years!

Since I read you email – please red what I am enclosing below from someone who is not a super Democrat…l he has some interesting points….

Meanwhile I will support HRC all the way—and I will support the Democratic nominee all the way. If it isn’t HRC—then I will fight for her to take over the Senate—or be on the cabinet—or the VP or the Supreme Court or that ever SHE wants.

I support Hillary, but if Barack is the nominee, I will support him too. Hillary has said she too will campaign for Barack if he is the nominee.

You have a choice. No one would be forcing you. It is a choice.

A choice you will have to live with.

100 years in Iraq if McCain gets elected.

Thousands more dead American Soldiers.

No reproductive choice for women.

It is your choice as to what you do in November. It is your choice if you want the above on your shoulders.

I don't chose the above as my future. I hope you won't either.

Thank you for sharing your views with me regarding this presidential race. As Co-Chair of the Credentials Committee of the Democratic National Convention, I have the obligation to remain uncommitted in this process in order to preserve the impartiality should a challenge be brought before our attention. I have the utmost respect for Sen Clinton as I do for Sen Obama as well. I commend you on your activism.Cordially,Eliseo Roques

Hi,

Thanks for your note. I receive a lot of notes from Republicans claiming to be Democrats. I am sure you are sincere in your comments, but can you verify how you received my email and who is coordinating these efforts so that I can be sure to give these remarks the appropriate consideration?

I do appreciate your understanding.

Cheers,

Thank you. Yours was the most respectful, intelligent letter I received. The others were filled with hate, threats, and subtle and not so subtle racism and sexism. I appreciate getting letters that are intelligent and rational. Thank you.

Thank you for your message. I am a super delegate pledged to support Hillary Clinton. I will continue to support her until she wins or she releases her delegates. I am doing everything in my power to get her elected.

Thank you for your work on her behalf. I am receiving 30 to 40 e-mails and letters a day on her behalf.

I feel that the entire Floridian delegation should be seated because it is Floridian's Republicans that changed the primary date over the objections of the Democrats. Michigan is another matter: some Democrats and all the Republicans voted to change their primary date even though they were told that there would be repercussions.

Hmm, Aleita Huguenin had the same thing to say to me, and my message was not racist in any way, nor did it really attack Obama. Sounds like a copy and paste job to me

How can they count delegates or votes when Obama wasn't even on the ballots? I'm voting Demoratic as usual, in November. I'd rather die than vote McCain.

Anonymous said...

riwired, Obama was on the ballot in Florida, and more than 2 million voters came out to vote. Try disenfranchising them. I dare you.

Thank you for your recent email regarding our nominating process. I have received hundreds of emails and have attempted to read them all. But, because of the sheer volume, I am responding in a general email. It is heartening to know that so many people are so personally engaged in our nominating process. Never before have we seen such incredible support for our candidates and the Democratic Party. People clearly do not want to see a third Bush term and want to turn the page on the failed policies that have caused the American people to want to change direction.

To clear up any misunderstanding about my position as a super delegate, it is important for me to first explain that as Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), one of nine nationally elected officers, I must remain neutral until our nominee is apparent. This position is mandated by the DNC Charter. According to Article Five, Section 4 of the Charter, the National Chair is “responsible for ensuring that the national officers of the Democratic National Committee maintain impartiality and evenhandedness during the Democratic Party Presidential nominating process.” For this reason, I will continue to remain strictly neutral during this presidential primary period in order to respect and honor the process. You can be assured that as soon as we have a nominee, I will be giving 100% for our nominee. I am confident that our nominee will support a platform that will move our country forward.

Also, despite some misinformation to the contrary – I am not a member of either the Rules and Bylaws Committee or the Convention Credentials Committee. I do not have a vote in either of those committees.

One factor about my position that I want to make crystal clear is that despite my current role as a Party officer, I consider myself a long-time (38 year) Democratic grassroots activist. Most “super-delegates” who are not elected during the regular primary or caucus process, are almost exclusively long-time party activists who hold our positions due to election to the DNC from state parties or by election to Federal office. More than half are DNC Members who, like me, have spent decades in our community working at the polls, engaging Democratic voters and speaking out on the issues. Because super delegates are not bound by election to one candidate, “super delegates” some of our party’s most committed members, will weigh several factors before committing to a candidate. It has been obvious that the results of the primaries and caucuses will certainly be a factor in the decision-making but not the only factor. I am also confident that each super delegate will consider the decision sincerely and with great deliberation. It is also the case that many super delegates are waiting to announce their personal commitment until the final contests are held on June 3rd.

This Saturday, May 31st the issue of the seating of Michigan and Florida will be considered by the Rules and Bylaws Committee. This is the same group that enacted the original rules regarding the sanctions on these two states. Several proposals are before the committee and the Members of the Committee are fully briefed on the matter . Although I am not on the committee, I am confident that there will be delegations seated at the convention from each state. Who those delegates will be and how many votes will apportioned to each delegation will be decided on May 31st. I support representation from both Florida and Michigan but appropriate representation that respects the public, the candidates and the people in the 48 states that followed the rules.

It has been an incredible time for the Democratic Party and for our Nation. The results in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Illinois in recent months electing three new Democratic Members of Congress demonstrate a trend that I sincerely hope will continue this fall when we increase our majorities in the House and Senate and take back the White House after eight long and difficult years.

It is time to put our country first. This election isn’t about one candidate. This election is about our country.

Thank you again for your email; I hope your concerns have been addressed.

Warm regards,

Susan W. Turnbull
Vice Chair
Democratic National Committee
