When a woman is trying to break the "hardest and highest" glass ceiling she is entitled to seek a little help from her friends, and Hillary Clinton has been promised that, and more, by three high-profile women determined to help her to the White House next year.
Geraldine Ferraro, who in 1984 became America's first female vice-presidential candidate, has organized a "rapid reaction force" of prominent women who will defend Mrs Clinton on TV networks.
Madeleine Albright, the former Secretary of State, and Billie Jean King, the tennis champion and campaigner for women's rights, are being touted as members of the team.
All three women made breakthroughs in their own fields, while Miss Albright has also helped to raise $1 million.
